The article is devoted to analysing the role of ecological culture in the life of schoolchildren, as well as to considering one of the possible ways to improve the level of ecological culture through participation in environmental projects. It is considered on the example of the project implemented in the territory of the town of Ishim "Book, that shouldn t be", the purpose of which is to preserve rare species of plants and animals of the Tyumen region.
