The paper analyzes the consequences of shocks for the Russian banking system on the examples of the global economic and financial crisis of 2008-2009 and the Russian economic crisis of 2014-2016, reinforced by a fall in oil prices and external economic sanctions. It is shown that the impact of external assets and reducing external liabilities of the Russian banking system.
