The article raises the debatable issue of the role and procedural status of the prosecutor in the civil process. Some gaps of the current civil procedural legislation of the Russian Federation regarding this issue are considered. A comparative analysis of the procedural status of the prosecutor is carried out with the procedural status of the plaintiff.
